Once again the Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise and the Mudgee Chamber of Commerce are working together to host the Clock Awards with a gala presentation dinner to be held in August.
Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise member Carol Cockerill-Wright said the awards were a way for businesses to promote their services and staff and a chance for some of them to be recognised at a regional level.
“For the staff, there is a category that recognises the best trainee and apprentice and another for a young employee.”
The Outstanding Young Employee recognises an inspirational person aged between 18 and 35 years who has built a successful career within the organisation.
Ms Cockerill-Wright said this year a new category was expected to draw a number of nominations.
“The Start Up Superstar recognises a business that is less than two years old with a product, service, idea or invention. We have a lot of start up businesses in Mudgee, and this category looks at the early stage of the start ups in the Mudgee market.”
Another category highly regarded is the Disability Access Award, with businesses asked to answer the question ‘what steps has your business taken to improve/implement a disability access to your business’.
The award allows the committee to recognise a business who has made a difference in the lives of people with a disability and helps improve access for people with a disability.
For the past two events, in 2014 and 2016, Rusty Russell from Double R Equipment Repairs has taken out the major Clock Award.
In 2016 Double R proceeded to a regional level where they won their category before advancing to a state level.
Mudgee Region Tourism and Comfort Inn Hotel also took their local winnings and proceeded to regional levels.
People’s Choice Award and Business entries opened on May 1 with the People’s Choice Award nominations to close on May 25.
An information night for interested nominees will be held on Monday, May 28, at the Winning Post Motor Inn from 5.30pm to 7pm, with previous category winners on hand to assist businesses with their entries.
Business entries will close on Friday June 22, and judging will start on Monday July 2.
The finalists will be announced on July 31 ahead of the gala awards night on August 17 at Parklands Resort in Mudgee.
