The green machine fell to the Cronulla Sharks 24-16 but would be more concerned about Austin’s injury which could further disrupt a halves core that’s struggled to find its feet in 2018.
Austin will undergo scans on Monday to determine the severity of the injury but it’s hard to imagine he won’t miss at least a game after the way he was carried off the field.
Ricky Stuart’s men are fortunate to have depth in the halves as Sam Williams will likely slot into the number six role after returning from an injury to play for Mounties on Saturday.
Canberra sits in a manageable position after 10 rounds but a loss to the Red V on Sunday would see them fall to 4-7 and lose touch with the top eight.
The Dragon’s won’t face such disruptions as Ben Hunt and Gareth Widdop are set to return to Mudgee on Friday and will look to inspire a bounce back performance.
The Saints lost 24-10 to South Sydney on Sunday in arguably their worst performance of the season and will be determined to avoid a two-game slide as the back half of the season hasn’t been kind to ‘Mary’ McGregor’s men in recent seasons.
The Dragons-Raiders meeting, which is most known for St George’s inability to win at the Nation’s Capital, will kick-off on Sunday May 20 from 2pm at Mudgee’s Glen Willow Sporting Complex.
