2018 marks the 19th anniversary of National Walk Safely to School Day and kids and parents around Mudgee braved the cool weather and took part in the annual event.
Mudgee’s Cudgegong Valley Public School met students at the entrance with special stickers to congratulate those who made the trek.
Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, as part of the One Million Steps campaign in partnership with the Heart Foundation has expressed his support for the event.
“Physical fitness is not just about having a strong and healthy body; it’s vital to overall happiness and wellbeing.
Walking regularly does not have to be difficult. It can be as easy as getting off the bus a few stops earlier, parking the car further away, or walking with friends and family all or part of the way to school,” he said.
