When Dragons’ back rower Tariq Sims saw Lily Woods in the crowd, he did more than take a selfie with her. Sims took off his boot and offered it to Lily, a die hard Red V fan who was at the game celebrating her birthday.
Even though Tariq warned Lily of the smell, that wasn’t a deterrent. Lily’s mother Courtney watched everything unfold and is extremely appreciative of what Tariq did.
“Just watching her favourite team was awesome but it was made even more special by the kind generosity of Tariq,” she said. “He wasn’t wrong… it was really smelly but the joy on her face and the excitement of being given it is something she will never forget.”
Instead of keeping it for herself, Lily decided to send it to her cousin Kobi who lives in Queensland and is also a Dragons fan.
“We are hoping to get the boot signed by Tariq but even if we can’t, he’s made two kids so happy.”
