Two-year-old Liam Potts was recently diagnosed with the rare form of brain cancer, Pineoblastoma, and the community has rallied behind him and his family as he undergoes treatment.
Pineoblastomas are a rare, malignant, pineal region lesions that account for less thatn 0.1 per cent of all intracranial tumors.
The GoFundMe account, set up by ‘Aunty Shayna, Aunty Chloe and Aunty Jess’ has raised close to $40,000.
This weekend’s event is a collaboration between Gerzurgan Vintage Riders, the organisers of the annual Toy Run, and Cudgegong Cruisers Inc.
Gerzurgan Wayne Honeysett, said that the support the ride has received before anyone has even hoped on a bike has been incredible.
“We’ve had interest from riders from Sydney, the Hunter, Central West, Mid North Coast, New England, Canberra, so it should be a big one,” he said.
“Just the ones from Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo, would be about half as many Toy Run, and that’s before you start counting the other places.”
The day begins at 9am with a barbecue breakfast at the Mudgee Railway Station and sign up for the dice run.
It is also a chance to check out the assembled vehicles before the ride departs at 10.30am.
Riders will then head down Church Street and onto the Ulan Hotel then the Commercial Hotel in Gulgong for lunch.
The final throw for the dice run will take place at Honey Haven.
And the ride finishes at the farm at Gezurgan (Hargraves, return via Mudgee) for an evening of music raffles and camping with mates.
They will also have a motorbike at St George bank in Mudgee on Saturday morning, which they’ll then take to Gulgong, with a collection tin that people can have their photo taken on for a gold coin donation.
Cost to enter the dice run is $20.
First prize in the dice run is a $250 voucher from Double R; second a weekend stay at Cobb and Co Boutique Hotel; third a $100 voucher at the Woolpack Hotel/Jumbucks restaurant; and the dice a $50 voucher at Roth’s Wine Bar.
Participants are asked to wear something in Liam’s favorite colour, Orange.
For those who can’t make the ride, donations can also be made to following account, Family First – LIAMS RIDE, BSB: 802 207, account: 100 053 142.
