It was a day of learning for the dancers at the City of Dubbo Eisteddfod on Tuesday.

The dance program continues at the eisteddfod this week. The woodwind, brass, guitar and bands section has also begun.
Zahli Lexie Gray said dance adjudicator David Mack had been tough.
Mr Mack currently performs with the Sydney Dance Company. Before working with the Sydney Dance Company he spent five years with West Australian Ballet.
His dance career began in the early ‘90s at Coffs Harbour.
Zahli, who dances with Dance Unlimited in Mudgee, said Mr Mack had told the dancers to concentrate on their arms.
While he was tough, ten-year-old Zahli said she appreciated getting the feedback.
Before heading to the eisteddfod, Zahli said her dancer teachers had told her to concentrate on her feet, making sure she pointed her toes and maintained her turnout during ballet.
Eloise Harrison also had a busy day at the eisteddfod, performing in a range of styles from contemporary to jazz.
Eloise, who lives at Cargo but trains with Dance HQ Orange, said it was her first time at the Dubbo Eisteddfod.
The young performer said the improvisations were her favourite.
Eloise was awarded highly commended in her contemporary solo on Tuesday morning. First place in the section went to Layla Duffy and second was Ellie Hodges.
The nine and 10 years jazz solo winner was Ellie Hodges, second was awarded to Evie Yule, third place went to Layla Duffy and highly commended went to Mia Cudmore, Sammara Dever and Zahli Lexie Gray.
Spencer Bloomfield won the restricted tap solo for 11 and 12 years. Second in the category when to Ollea Iffland and third was Briannah Ellis.
The large modern solo section for nine and 10-year-olds was awarded to Charlotte George, followed by Abbey Rowland-Jones in second, Ellie Hodges in third and Sammara Dever and Zahli Lexie Gray in joint highly commended.
Layla Duffy came first in the classical improvisation solo for nine and 10-year-olds. Second was awarded to Abbey Rowland-Jones, third went to Ellie Hodges and highly commended was given to Charlotte George.
Ella-Grace Turnbull and Ellie Hodges were equal first in the tap solo for nine and 10 year olds.
The dance section on Wednesday will begin with the demi-character 12 years and under improvisation.
The junior championships will be held on Thursday, beginning with tap. A local scholarship will also be awarded.
