William James Tremble, aged 48, of Buckaroo Lane, Mudgee, pleaded guilty to high range drink driving when he appeared in Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday.
Tremble had initially parked the car in Lewis Street, Mudgee, on the evening of December 21, 2017, and drank until 2am.
He then drove to the Shell service station where he briefly spoke with friends, before harshly accelerating away and north along Church Street.
About 30m from the clock tower intersection he braked heavily and skid onto the roundabout, through the flowerbed and hit the electricity box.
His car rolled onto the passenger side and came to rest on its roof. Witnesses helped Tremble from the vehicle and when police arrived they noted that he was lying on the footpath, incoherent and unable to stand.
A blood sample taken at Mudgee Hospital revealed that he had a blood alcohol level of 0.208.
Magistrate David Day commented on the amount of alcohol Tremble told police he’d drunk that night.
“Twelve schooners, unsurprisingly he’s unable to control his car,” he said.
