The red and greens entered the sheds with a 12-6 deficit to overcome and despite creating plenty of chances after half time, weren’t able to get a winning result.
With two rounds remaining, Portland is two points clear of the Waratahs in fourth position but Kandos will draw confidence from the fact that the Colts play a pair of away games at Orange and Blackheath – the two best teams in the league.
Reflecting on the match, Kandos Waratahs player’s player Nathan Annetts said execution at key moments costed his side.
“We made just many, if not more metres than Portland, but we couldn’t put the polish on some of our sets,” Annetts said.
“Dropped balls didn’t help us either.” Kandos returns home on Saturday June 24 to play a ‘win or go home’ game against the CSU Mungoes where a loss would spell an end to its season.
