Seven Gulgong firefighters are heading to Sydney later this year to take on what might be one of their toughest challenges yet.

On Saturday, October 20 the group of firefighters from station 312 Gulgong and one from 342 Kandos will enter the ground floor of the Sydney Tower Eye.
Fully decked out in structural firefighting gear and breathing apparatus weighing a combined 20kg, they will climb a full 98 storeys of the tower totalling 1,504 stairs.
The local firefighters taking part are: Reece Bennett; Travis McCall; Matt Davies; Amanda Chetcuti; Michael Butt; Colby Leech; Captain Paul Cavalier.
The climb is to raise funds for Macquarie University’s research into Motorneurone Disease.
