The last two weekends have seen a lot of bowls being played out at the Mudgee Bowls Club, including the annual Oatley Wines Honey and Wine bowls carnival and the club fours championships - despite the latter in almost sub zero temperatures.

Over 20 teams competed in the Honey and Wine pairs across the long weekend, with players coming from as far afield as Sydney, Orange, Lithgow, Grenfell and Tamworth.
Played over three days with teams competing in five games, it all came down to the last game with two of the sides, both with four wins to decide the overall winners.
In a close and competitive final game, Jae Marskell of Mudgee and Micheal Thorne from Wallacia were crowned champions for 2018.
Close behind the runners up with 41/2 wins were Craig Maythers and Anthony Breeze of Wentworth Leagues Club.
In third were Lee Morrissey of Gulgong and Martin Byrnes of Mudgee.
Others to have shared in the spoils came from Grenfell, Soldiers Point, Richmond and Lithgow.
Last weekend, in what can only be described as “testing conditions”, the club fours championships was played and won.
In what was a case of the survival of the fittest, some top quality bowls despite the weather, four teams took to the green on Sunday.
The teams of R Seis, D Menchin, K Underwood and D Bennett and P Farrell, S Winters, N Hutchison and L Alcott bowed out in close matches in the morning semifinals.
In the afternoon game in worsening condition, it was a battle of the leads G Hennessy coming out on top with a man of the match performance.
In the final wash up A Rich, N Watkins, T Melville snr and G Hennessy defeated S Caldwell, A Clarke, E Woodard and B Oakenfull 22 shots to 12.
