Following the completion of the extension to the HealthOne building, the new physio/gym room is being used by clients and some minor renovations are being finalised to other rooms within HealthOne.
The new staff accommodation building is also complete and is being well utilised by new graduates who are working at the MPS. The building houses two separate self-contained units with kitchen and laundry facilities.
Regular meals and activities for the residents has now recommenced in the expanded Residential Aged Care (RAC) dining and activities area.
The space has been expanded from its original size and again has the lovely northern and eastern views following the removal of the external construction scaffolding.
Just recently the new nurses station was completed, and the nurses have settled in to their new hub.
Work is now focusing on completing the new front entry to the MPS, as well as the extension to the RAC on the south-eastern side of the building which will deliver additional RAC beds to the MPS.
Patients and visitors are reminded that the temporary entry to the right of the usual entry continues to be in place while the front entry works are ongoing.
District executives tour the redevelopment
In early May the executive team for the Western NSW Local Health District gathered at the Rylstone MPS for one of their meetings. While at the MPS, the group took the opportunity to view the redevelopment’s progress.
They were impressed with the additional facilities and improvements and looked forward to returning to the MPS to see the finished product.
The redevelopment project team held a “cuppa catch-up” in April with the MPS staff and residents to update them on the project and answer questions.
There was positive feedback about the expanded RAC dining and activities area from the residents and community members, who were pleased to have access to this space again. In fact, the catch-up” was held in this area, as shown in the photo above.
The next “cuppa catch-up” will be held sometime in July.
Staff, residents and their families, and the Health Council are welcome to attend. Please contact the HSM on 02 6357 8111 for further information.
