On the Sunday, July 1, there will be live music and a screening of Blue The Film (bluethefilm.org), an emotive Australian film about the devastating effects of plastics and rubbish entering waterways and oceans and killing marine life.
Greenpeace Australia Pacific CEO, David Ritter, said, “Blue is a cinematic song for our oceans; beautiful, intimate and grand. Fearlessly truth-telling, yet passionately hopeful. See this film and you will want to rise up with the waves.”
By 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fish, with humans increasing our use of plastic and every piece of plastic that was ever made is still in existence.
Plastic Free July challenges people to do something, with millions from 159 countries worldwide making a difference.
Go online plasticfreejuly.org to register and find tips on how to make better choices for a healthier planet and a healthier you. Joining the challenge is simple – choose to refuse single-use plastic during July and beyond.
