Last week ten Mudgee Public students headed to Dubbo to battle it out for the top spot in the Western Region.
They were met by a towering and talented Bathurst Public School side in a nail biting game.
Mudgee took a quick lead in the first quarter, working the ball well around the goal circle and showing patience in attack.
The second and third quarter saw Bathurst Public rally and shut down the Mudgee attack - locking the scores at 15-15 going into the fourth.
In an exciting last ten minutes Mudgee regained confidence and through great teamwork and quick play the ball the game shifted in momentum.
Scoring 8-nil in the final period and came away victorious 23-15.
Excitement is now brewing at Mudgee Public School as the girls are now off to the State Finals in September.
Principal Alan Kerr was on the loud speaker, announcing the girls success within minutes if the news.

“They are a credit to not only their teachers but their representative coaches as well.”
