“The NSW Government has recognised the project will exceed the additional budget,” Cr Kennedy said.
“It is pleasing to see they have committed the $25 million towards the hospital ensuring residents of the Mid-Western Region will have access to a state of the facility and services.
“We’re excited to welcome the Premier to Mudgee in July when she will officially turn the first sod marking the initial construction phase.”
Member for Dubbo, Troy Grant who will also be here, is bullish about the project.
“These ongoing investments do not just deliver essential health services to regional and rural areas but also boosts jobs and the economy of the local communities,” Mr Grant said.
“Early works on the new Mudgee Hospital are expected to commence in the not too distant future, with construction to be underway by the end of the year.
“This is an exciting time for the Mudgee community as they will soon see action on site and a new $70 plus million hospital rise from the ground.”
NSW will benefit from a $2.3 Billion investment in world-class hospitals and health services in 2018-19, with a record $8 billion being invested over the next four years for new facilities, upgrades and redevelopments.
Minister for Health Brad Hazzard said, “the NSW Government’s record health funding ensures our nurses, doctors and other clinicians can continue to provide the best possible care.
“Supported by the most modern equipment in the newest facilities.”
The $70.2 million redevelopment involves a major upgrade to the existing health service, focusing on the expansion of inpatient and ambulatory care services.
The NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian will be in Mudgee on Tuesday, July 3, to do the first sod turn for the project along with Troy Grant.
