The closeness of the 2018 Christie and Hood Castlereagh League senior league competition was highlighted during Round 10 when a loss by the Dunedoo Swans shunted them from outright second on the ladder to fourth.

The Swans went down 26 to 18 to in a close tussle with their near neighbours the Binnaway Bombshells and that loss combined with wins by the Gilgandra Panthers and Trangie Magpies saw them drop out of the top four, all be it on percentages.
The Swannettes turned in a strong performance in the league tag match, fittingly on the club’s annual Ladies Day round, with a dominant 46 to 4 victory.
Lucy Guan and Georgia Lane both scored doubles, with Gabrielle Lane, Sophie Christ, Alice Mayes, Jenna Packham, and Skye Leeson all crossing as well.
Meanwhile, in Cobar the Gulgong Terriers’ Western Rams rep, fullback Brad James, went a long way towards the visitors claiming the match.
James scored two tries himself and had a hand in quite a few others, as well as slotting six goals as his side secured a 40 to 22 win to keep them outright leaders on the competition ladder.
The Roosters however did not go down without a fight and trailed by just six points (28 to 22) with 15 minutes to go after they were down 22 to 10 at the break.
In the other matches, the Panthers breathed some fire back into their premiership defence campaign with a hard fought victory over their arch rivals Coonamble.
And at Baradine the two Magpie outfits dished up a plethora of tries with no less than 13 four pointers during the match that the visitors ultimately took out.
Attention now swings to Round 11 and the Terriers hosting the Swans in their local derby. Binnaway will be hoping to continue their surge towards a possible semi final berth with their first Boronia Cup defence against Baradine. Trangie take on Gilgandra at Trangie with the possibility of being outright second on the ladder being the big carrot for the winner.
