Two weeks ago I stepped into the Mudgee Guardian, and boy has my time here flown.

From covering the infamous pet’s of local businesses to members of the community doing good deeds to attending a court session, there is not a single thing I have not enjoyed.
What came as a first initial shock to me about Mudgee was how close everything is to each other.
There were many occasions where all I had to do was step outside and the place I had to be was right around the corner.
Seriously, I think I have had to drive to about five different locations for stories during my whole time here – that’s pretty impressive Mudgee.
Ok, as easy as that might sound, I would be lying if I said I didn’t have to use Google Maps to work out where to go even if the place was across the road.
Another thing was how willing lots of people were to have a chat to me about a story or get a picture.
I was under the impression that many people get iffy about that stuff but not the people of Mudgee.
Now I know I said something along the lines of this in my first piece in the paper, my little self-introduction, but the importance of community has really struck me in this town.
I recall many occasions where I wold walk down the street and get a “How are you?” or “Good morning” or whatever the case may be, I felt very welcomed every time.
I also remember mentioning something about how I like to eat food and Mudgee has really provided the goods in that department.
Finally, it has been a real treasure working with the people in the Mudgee Guardian.
Each and every person has something unique about them that makes it a pleasure to be a temporary part of their team.
All in all I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working at the Guardian, and can safely say I will try my very best to get this opportunity once again.
And for those of you who have taken the time to read my articles, I appreciate it greatly – thank you for your support.
Keep up the good work Mudgee - there’s no surprise this town is a tourism hot spot with all the amazing things to see, do and eat around here.
Oh, and I still have and will forever continue to live by the words “Chocolate doesn’t go to the stomach, it goes to the heart.”
