They’ve completed their new clubhouse, based at the AREC site.
Club president Brian Jones said that while it’s been a long term goal the construction itself took place since the last Field Days, with many members dedicating more than their time to the project.
“We’re more than happy with how it turned out,” he said.
“It would’ve taken about 10 months to build – not counting the foundations – by members mostly on weekends.
“Some donated materials that went into it, along with a lot of time, and some even did some work at home on parts then brought them here and put it together.”
And don’t expect a gleaming new building – it had to suit the club.
“It had to have the theme of what we were doing,” Mr Jones said.
“All the tin was donated some was from an old shed near Gulgong and the roof trusses and some of the uprights came from the old workshop from behind Mudgee Dairy.”
Throughout the year the clubhouse will be the venue for the CVAMC meetings and get-togethers.
This weekend it’s housing the Festival of Yesteryear historic kitchen, garage, and printing press displays, as well as old Mudgee photos and books, and vintage sewing machines.
“One of the big advantages is we can now have displays like we’ve got here for the weekend, which we couldn’t have before because of the weather,” Mr Jones said.
The club is also hosting the tractor pull, antique equipment and vehicle displays, stationary engines, whip making demonstrations and even cow milking, throughout the weekend.
