Ulan Coal Mines Limited (UCML) is one of the most established coal mining operations in the western coalfields of NSW.
The mining operations at UCML are one of a number of mining assets owned or managed by Glencore.
There are two approved underground mining operations (Ulan No.3 and Ulan West) and an Open Cut, though this has not operated since 2014. The 21-year conceptual mine plan involves open cut and longwall mining in the Ulan Seam.
Ulan operates a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week mining operation which employs approximately 931 people, including ancillary contractors.
