Prior to last week’s announcement, no one had nominated to challenge Mr Grant for preselection. Nationals State Director Ross Cadell said the deadline would not be extended, due to the number of nominations already received.
“We’ve had a lot of interest in the last week, a lot of quality interest,” Mr Cadell said. “We’re still interested in hearing from people. We want a competitive field because we think it’s a pretty great privilege to be able represent your area and look after the people of Dubbo and surrounds.” Nominations are due by Saturday, July 21, with preselection to be held on August 18.
