Logan’s bale will be one of nearly 300 bales that have been pledged so far in the 200Bales initiative.
Logan and his grandfather, David Ure share a special relationship and it was the time Logan spent with his ‘pop’ during the school holidays that led to his generous decision.

“I’m on the road every day and I’ve been doing this for 20 years and I’ve never seen it as bad as it is, I’ve never seen it this dry, especially this close to Mudgee,” he said.
“Logan was with me on a few trips during the school holidays and we saw some pretty ordinary stuff. I try and shelter him from some things but I don’t shelter him from the truth.”
“He asked why the sheep were dead and I said, ‘mate it’s because they have nothing to eat’ and he asked why the farmers couldn’t help and I explained that there’s no feed left and many can’t afford it,”
“He looked at me and said, ‘what can I do to help, pop?’”
“I saw the Mudgee Guardian story on 200Bales; I explained to him what it was all about and how I was going to buy a bale of hay to help feed these animals and he immediately said he wanted to as well.”
“It just goes to show how generous he is and how much heart he has.”

“We wanted to give the money in person so he understood what it was all about. We went to the bank, withdrew the money and went and saw Glenn [Box].
His mother, Tash Richards couldn’t be more proud.
“We sat down and we went through every single comment on that Facebook post and I think that’s made him even happier,” she said.
“He told me that he wished he could fill up our big bath tub and give the water to all the sheep and cows,”
His pop, Dave Ure was taken aback at how enthusiastic Logan is to help.
“He asked what day it is today and when I answered he asked ‘when are we picking up the hay to go and feed the animals we saw on the road?’, he said.
“It just goes to show how generous he is and how much heart he has.”
