Around 250 motorhomes and caravans from all over Australia will converge on Mudgee this month when the town hosts the CMCA Solos Network Spring Rally.
The Solos Network is a Special Interest Group affiliated with the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia. (CMCA), the largest RV club in the country.
Their Spring Rally – to be held at the Mudgee Showground, from September 24 to October 1 – is a prelude to the National CMCA Rally in Gunnedah (October 6-13).
Rally team leader, Lorraine Ellis, said, “our members are excited about what awaits them”.
“Mudgee was chosen because of the warm welcome already shown to our travelling members, the compact and comprehensive retail precinct and the area’s many world class attractions,” she said.
“We will be running a daily shuttle bus into town each day and local businesses will benefit from this sudden increase in population.
“All our requirements, including catering, entertainment, tours etc have been sourced locally. Supporting small business in a big town. We are also supporting the Buy-a-Bale Campaign at the Rally.”
“Many thanks go to the Mid-Western Council’s general manager, Brad Cam and his team, the Show Society and other community groups who have given us their full support in bringing this event to Mudgee,” she added.
The Solos Network is a support group for people travelling alone, people who have become Solo travellers for whatever the reason.
Members of the Solos Network meet twice yearly as an opportunity to catch up with old friends, make new ones and have a jammed packed week of social activities designed to lift their spirits and improve their confidence to move on in life.
The Mudgee community is invited to come down to the Spring Rally open day at the Showground on Saturday, September 29, from 8am until 12noon.
“We encourage anyone that is interested in learning about our lifestyle to come on down,” rally team leader, Lorraine Ellis, said. “Information sessions as well as demonstrations of a range of activities that we enjoy will be held in the Showground. So, come on down and join us for a cuppa and a chat.”
A gold coin donation on entry will be given to the Buy-a-Bale Campaign.
