On Sunday September 9, a woman who does not wish to be named for safety reasons, went to her step-father’s grave to celebrate his birthday.
When she arrived, the woman was greeted with profanity and her own name painted on the gravestone, which was only put in a week ago.
‘Sick to her stomach’, the woman contacted the police and sent them the images she had taken at the scene.
When questioned who she thinks would have carried out such an attack, the woman says no one comes to mind.
“I can’t think of a single person who would’ve done it,” she said.
"I can’t think of a single person who would’ve done it."
“I have no idea why they picked us.”
When she asked others if anyone had information, someone declared they had seen a dark blue or black new sedan with round tail lights at the cemetery on Saturday night, 8 September at approximately 10.30pm.
The paint was wet the following day when the woman visited the site.
The women believes it was a personal attack as the deceased's birthday was on the Thursday of the same week, and struggles to comprehend that it was just a random act of vandalism.

“You don’t just drive around with paint in the back of your car and decide to go out and target a particular gravestone, it was definitely a planned attack on my family and I,” she said.
A post was put up on a community group Facebook page, however it was taken down by an admin of the page soon after as it was ‘generating too many negative comments’.
Concerned for her safety, the woman has began begun to look at everyone in a different light as she feels the person who committed the crime is a local.
“I just can’t believe it, it makes me sick to my stomach. I am genuinely dumbfounded that someone would go out and do this,” she said.
“I have to go out and watch my back everywhere I go now because I don’t know of anyone who would’ve done this.”
When asked about her step-father, she said he was a kind-hearted person who had served for Australia.
“Ross was a lovely person, and was nice to everyone.
“That just makes it even worse to think someone would do that to a veteran who served for their country.”
The woman is in contact with police.
“I hope the police catch them so they can be publicly shamed for what they have done.”
