Adam John Hockley of Headley Place, Mudgee, was stopped by officers at about 9.30pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in Gladstone Street.
During questioning he revealed that he’d been at a house suspected of drug activity.
Hockley picked up a rolled up shirt and when police asked him about it, he told them “I may as well give this to you then”.
It contained 7g grams of cannabis.
A 15cm knife was found during a search of the vehicle. He said he had this because, “it makes me feel better, I’ve got a dodgy car that breaks down”.
In court Magistrate David Day told the defendant, “until the law changes it’s still illegal to possess cannabis”. Adding, “and you don’t have a clean copy book”.
