Ex-Kinross Wolaroi First XV skipper Cody Walker will make his NSW Country debut on Saturday at Mudgee after being named on the Eagles bench.
The home side takes on the Melbourne Rising at Glen Willow from 1pm.
Walker was part of the Sydney Rays squad for last season’s NRC and didn’t play in the Eagles’ round one 54-28 loss to the Western Forbes last weekend.
He’s been named on NSW Country’s bench for Saturday’s clash at Glen Willow and will get his first run in Eagles colours.
Fellow prop and NSW Country skipper Paddy Ryan says Walker is one of his squad’s most exciting prospects.
“He’s going to have a great career ahead of him. He’s got some great ball skills,” Ryan said.
“Like all young props he’s refining his craft at scrum time but he’s got the body shape that means, I think, he’ll be a great scrummager.”
“He’s also a great ambassador for indigenous kids … there’s a lot to like about Cody and I’m sure the more people get to know him they’ll realise that.”
Former Cowra gun Harry Johnson-Holmes was also named in the Eagles front-row. He was part of the NSW Country squad that also featured at Orange’s Endeavour Oval in 2017.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 1pm at Glen Willow.
Children are free, adults $10 and all proceeds from tickets go to Mudgee Rugby Union.
