With her highly successful show "ColourScapes" here two years ago, Anjee's new show "ColourUp" is loaded with a highly charged palette, bold in character and colour.
Born and raised in the UK, Anjee originally trained as a photographer and it was with this medium that her love affair with colour blossomed.
Working exclusively in acrylics, Anjee sees each painting as an adventure, and a challenge.
"My training as a photographer has been invaluable and underpins my current artwork.
But while my camera is still an integral part of the painting process, what I really love is being in that creative 'zone' - just me, my paints and the canvas - hours can feel like minutes and I loose all sense of time - bliss!."
The distinctive local Mudgee landscape, with its rolling hills, olive groves and a plethora of vineyards, has proved an ongoing source of inspiration for many of her paintings.
Exploring landscapes, often with a strong arboreal component, Anjee delivers striking images on canvas, in terms of pattern and light...but most of all in colour.
"The dominant trend in the west today, in both architecture and interior design, is 'safe' greys and neutrals.
While kids naturally revel in colour, for adults bold colours can often be seen as something to be treated with caution.
However, for me, I aim to create artwork that is a counterpoint to the trend and just celebrate nature's kaleidoscope!"
Opening night reception will be held from 6pm-8pm on Friday, September 21 - proudly sponsored by Heslop Wines.
Anjee's exhibition "ColourUP" is on show from Wednesday, September 19 to Sunday, October 28.
