Speaking to the Mudgee Guardian, Diane Burnicle and Tracy Lucas explained how it all went down.
“We ride every Wednesday at the Mudgee Showground, and as you know there are hundreds of caravaners staying there right now. Last week a woman came over and handed us $300 in cash, we couldn’t believe it,” Diane said.
“We were really happy with that, we thought ‘what a generous woman’.”
It turns out that this was just the beginning.
Tracy explained that the same woman visited them again today (September 26), and handed them an envelope.
“She handed it to us and asked if we could get her a receipt. We didn’t open the envelope straight away,” she said.
“We were stunned when we opened it and inside was a cheque for $5,000. We simply couldn’t believe it.”
They haven’t decided what they’re going to with the money yet but promise it will put to good use.
“She wanted to remain anonymous but if you’re reading this, we just want to say thank you so much.”
