An international showcase will be performing at the Prince of Wales Opera House this Friday as part of the shows 25th anniversary.
Lennon Through A Glass Onion has had no shortage of attraction having been performed in places such as New York City, and will come back to Gulgong for the second time.
John Waters who will perform alongside Stewart D’Arrietta, said he fell in love with Australia’s first Opera House the moment he stepped on the stage and looks forward to playing there once again.
“We did love it, it was rather charming.”
“I’m really looking forward to performing there once again.”
The “tiny but beautiful theatre” offers an entire new dynamic to the performance, and will make the experience all the more intimate for all in attendance.
“If we get that little theatre packed, then we have a beautiful dynamic between the two of us on stage and the audience,” Waters said.
“Because we narrow the lights down, there’s nothing visual to distract you. I feel like I’m connecting with every single person there.”
“It’s so close and intimate but the nuances in the show do come through better. I love it.”
The hour and a half long performance showcases songs from John Lennon’s solo career “sprinkled” through the more popular tunes.
The show begins with gunshots that offer a moment to reminisce of the time John Lennon lay bleeding on the streets of New York when he thought his life was offer, to then highlight his success story.
“This is not a happy chappy Beatles show, it’s not a cover act, it’s a genuinely revealing exploration of the thoughts of the man. It’s a trip inside John Lennon’s world.”
“It takes them on a very personal journey as well as giving them the songs that are so much a part of Lennon’s life.”
Waters told that the performance would be appreciated by people who like to let their emotions fly in a performance with this being a perfect opportunity for such to have this moment.
“You have to have something that you put into the show that is emotionally arresting to people, it engages their emotions,” he said.
“I would love to see people of the whole district crowd into this little theatre, hanging from the rafters.”
Lennon Through A Glass Onion will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 7.30pm at the Prince of Wales Opera House, Gulgong.
Tickets to the show can be purchased online at www.oztix.com.au for $60 each or in person at either the Mudgee Visitor Information Centre or Gulgong Post Office.
