The group posted two care packages for Anzac Day to serving personnel overseas. They received a reply from Sergeant Steve Banks, with an embroidered flag showing where he was serving. The students wrote more letters and sent a second package with a mug, some treats from home, a Lue Public School beanie and other pieces.
Last week they received another parcel, containing a letter, which spoke to each of the students in turn. Along with camouflage hats each with the same embroidered shoulder patches serving soldiers in Iraq wear on their uniforms and the above photo.
“As well as supporting our wonderful soldiers, students have a real purpose for their writing and can't wait to write back again, this time with a Christmas parcel,” principal Caron McDonald said. “We hope their letters and parcels bring a little ray of sunshine to those who help keep us safe.”
