Not only the downpour that seemed to follow them – which they’d been contending with throughout the journey – but also a record fundraising figure that completely eclipsed their ambitious target.
The Ride, which is in its fifth year, supports Wings4Kidz who provide free transport for kids from rural and regional NSW to vital medical treatment. Saving families time, money and the stress from being away from home.
After several years of hitting the $100,000 mark, they set a goal of $150,000 for 2018.

A figure of $200,200 was announced upon their return to Mudgee.
The journey began on October 14, north of the border – for the first time – and headed 1900km down to the local region.
Ride organiser, Jason Turner, said the group – which at 50 riders was around 50 per cent up on previous years – were welcomed by many people along the way. And even though the weather wasn’t on their side it didn’t extinguish the spirit.
“Everyone had a really good time, we got drenched and everyone was still smiling,” he said.
“But it was another very successful ride, we met some lovely people along the road and a lot were keen to find out more about the charity and support it. It’s been unbelievable and the charity has grown because of it, you couldn’t ask for more.”
