Pink Up Mudgee for 2018 has come to an end, with the town soon to return back to original colours.
In its third year stint, the awareness event saw 190 businesses, organisations and charities across the region get involved alongside the Mid-Western Region Council, Police, NSW Fire Brigade and RFS, and each and every nursing home in Mudgee.
Pink Up Mudgee Coordinator Hugh Bateman, said he could not be prouder of the region for all of their efforts this month, supporting breast cancer awareness.
“We are extremely happy with the amount of businesses, organisations, charities that have been involved this year,” he said.
The town involvement has been phenomenal once again.

There was no shortage of events this year with events ranging from pink cattle, horses, bowls, golf, lyrics in the lawn, mx shootout, morning tea’s and much more.
“The whole Pink Up Mudgee event can be summed up by what a lady said to me, ‘I look forward to the way the community all gets together for one cause, even though there is some sadness, it comes as a happy and joyous event,” Bateman said.
“If there was a national award for the best community in Australia, I make no joke that the Mid-Western region would have to be outstanding in front of everyone else with no doubt.”
With 60 new diagnoses of breast cancer in Australia each day, it is important that both men and women get their breasts screened.
“We are so very lucky in our region to have our own breast care nurse, Diana Thomas, who does an absolutely wonderful job,” Bateman said.
She’s an absolute angel.

There was a small but committed committee for Pink Up Mudgee this year with Greg Dowker, Bethaney Noon, Sam McKendry, Helen Rhodes, Debbie Sutcliffe, Andrew Palmer, Kimberly Gribble, Kathy Lang and Ken Sutcliffe involved.
The very last event for 2018 will be the fishing competition for Pink Up Windamere on Sunday, November 4 at Windamere Dam.
Those with registered donation tins are urged to drop them off to the property shop so the final tally can be collected.
