The donations to this appeal are now flowing through to the Mid-Western Regional Council area, via our local Rotary Clubs.
The combined three clubs have been granted $25,000 of the $10 million raised, to be distributed to struggling local farmers.
This money will be channelled via Mudgee’s We Care organisation to recipients in the MWRC area. Farmers will receive assistance for such as household essentials, water supply, fuel vouchers and animal care, or issued as Mudgee Money cards.
Mudgee Money cards are an initiative of the Mudgee Chamber of Commerce and can be spent like a credit card at member businesses, providing some discretionary spending for recipients.
We Care are in Byron Place Mudgee, from where distribution of assistance all over the local Council area is based.
Donna Collins, coordinator of We Care, says the extra funding will allow more rural residents to be assisted, so arrangements are being put in place for packages to be available and grant money to be spent in the Kandos Rylstone area to save travel to Mudgee.
“We are well set up to ensure that the assistance is going to the most deserving farmers and would like to thank the local Rotary Clubs for their wonderful support and encouragement during this difficult time for farmers” she said.
This donation will provide a significant boost in assisting farming families during this challenging time of drought.
