Looking at the scores, it was evident that the home ground advantage was a significant factor as Bathurst could only record one player in the top 24 results.
A tremendous field of 47 players (26 locals) showed that the rivalry of the InterClub Challenges is alive and well.
Doug Thomas lead the way in a star-studded line-up where many of the locals ‘tore the course apart’. Doug won the day with a magnificent 43 points which was closely followed by Alex Nicholson (42 points) who would have thought he had the game in the bag.
Taking third place with a great 39 points was John Novak and then Tom Cooke (38 c/b) edged out Paul Moore (38 points) for thWestern Region Academy of Sport selects four for netball and golf final two vouchers.
Ball winners were John Farkas, visitor Greg Campbell, David Halpin, Bob Colley, Trish Jones, Bruce Bell, David, Ken Charter, Keith Baker, Doug Cook, Barry Hadaway, Ron, McDaniel, Stuie Campbell, Terry Bedford, Jim Read, Ann Burgess, Tony Addley and Bob Kearins with the unlucky Graham Cross just missing out.
Only one visitor featured in the prizes which was very similar to how the locals fared when we visited Bathurst recently.
The sharp shooter awards for the Soldiers’ Motel and Petries’ Mitre 10 NTP vouchers went to David Halpin (282cm on the 4th hole), Terry Bedford (153cm on the 11th hole) and visitor Russell McCarthy (30cm on the 17th hole) who won a bottle of wine.
