Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the carnival will be host to teams from Coonamble, Warren, Dubbo, Bathurst, Nyngan, Coolah, Kandos, Dunedoo, Scone, Wellington, and Lithgow, with 50 natives contesting their stamina against 120 visitors.
The Swimming New South Wales affiliated event will host a range of races on the day from 25 metres for the youngsters, through to 50 metres, 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and 800 metres for the older swimmers.
The aim of the carnival is to rack up qualifying times to make the Country NSW Championships, state and national meets.
Although Mudgee Indoor is one of the smaller clubs in the region, their swimmers consistently qualify for the larger events. Last year, six Mudgee Indoor Swimming talents repped at Country Championships, however 2018 has witnessed eight MI swimmers already achieve qualifying times for the championships.
While there’s a lot to do with fierce competing, Mudgee Indoor Swimming club president, Andrew Kearins says at the end of the day it’s all about fun and pushing yourself.
“At the end of the day they’ll all have a great time, it’s about fun,” Kearins said.
“A lot of it is about competing against yourself and bettering yourself.”
Mudgee’s competitors train five mornings and afternoons a week, a total of 10 training sessions, which is likely to result in some rewards.
“They put in a lot of effort and I think there will be some rewards on the day,” Kearins said.
It just blows me away every time I am close to where they are training and I see how hard they train and it is just incredible the laps they do and at a hard pace.

“They don’t get down there and lolly up and down, they kick hard and pull hard. It’s incredible really.
“No wonder they [daughters who race] eat a lot when they get home,” he laughed.
“There’s some real talent in the juniors, some really good little swimmers too.”
Swimmers are expected to arrive at the Mudgee pool around 7.30am to commence with a warm up, ahead of an 8.30am kick off.
The carnival will take place on Sunday, November 25.
