At about 7.40pm on Thursday, August 16, 2018, police stopped the car being driven by Stephen James O’Brien because it didn’t have any number plates.
The 39-year-old handed over a temporary registration slip that permitted him to drive the vehicle to his home.
Along with his licence, which was checked and revealed to be suspended from August 4, 2018, in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.
O’Brien was not before Mudgee Local Court but was represented by his solicitor Allan Hogan, who submitted that his client was confused by his court attendance notice for an earlier offence and was under the impression he could drive.
