Twenty-one Mudgee Indoor Swimming Club swimmers travelled to Warren on Sunday, December 2 to participate in the swimming carnival.

On a mission to achieve qualifying times to make the Country NSW Championships, the 21 Mudgee swimmers made stopped in Warren the night before race day in order to climatise and settle in.
Andrew Kearins, President of the Mudgee Indoor Swimming Club, and spectator at the event says team building activities for the club are a strong point and give rise to the fact swimming is not all that it seems.
“The group of kids are quite close, its inspiring to watch them support each other even though they are competing against each other,” Kearins says.
It’s really a team sport, and really the team work is something that doesn’t get acknowledged much.

“We train so much as a team and on the days, it’s amazing to see the swimmers stand together and support each other as a team.”
Mudgee swimmers put out some top performances including Callum Wilson, who broke the record for 50 metre butterfly, and achieved three first placings in his races.
While Imogen Kearins placed first in four of her events and broke the record for the 100 metre backstroke, and Nate Atkinson placed first in four of his races.
“To break a record is a pretty good effort,” Kearins said.
Phoebe Forrester broke a personal best in her 100 metre freestyle, and placed second in the eight years, 50 metre breastroke, and Ed McGilvray came first in the 25 metre backstroke, second in the 25 metre freestyle and third in the 25 metre butterfly.
Mudgee Indoor Swimming Club swimmers will next compete Saturday, December 8 at the Twilight Carnival in Lithgow.
The trek to Warren comes a week after the MISC held their own carnival on Sunday, November 25 where it was success at each stoke for Mudgee.
