Trigger warning: Suicide, depression.
Ever loved someone SO much that you would do anything for them?
Ever needed to break your own heart to help strengthen another?
Ever found someone in their darkest days and known without hesitation, that in this moment, things needed to change? Leaving my husband in that hospital, very much against his will, was one of my hardest days of my life. It was the day I realised just how close it was.
I almost lost this man to his darkness. It consumed him. It took his joy, laughter and fun spirit. It only gave him doubt, self loathing and worry in return.
He's coming back to us. He is growing stronger every day, slowly does it, but moving forward. He loves his family fiercely and faithfully. He's believing now, more than ever, that he's worthy of our love, that we love him unconditionally, that his children adore him, respect him and look up to him.
We will see brighter days again. This experience has only strengthened our bond as husband and wife and as parents to our children. It's leading us on a new path, one that we will welcome and accept with gratefulness.
“It's only in our darkest hours that we may discover the true strength of the brilliant light within ourselves that can never, ever be dimmed.” – Doe Zantamata
I understand that mental health is different for everyone. For my family, we are open about it. For us this was unexpected and sudden. I'll be forever thankful to Ethan for asking for help, even though it was probably one of the hardest things his ever had to do.
If you're struggling in life, find someone you trust and let them in. You're not a burden, you're not too hard to deal with, but you are so worthy of a beautiful life, you're loved, you matter and you would be missed so much.
We have been shown so much love and support. Thank you all so much.
It’s still a long road to recovery, but he's on it, ready to heal. So much family time is on our agenda. Life is going to slow down for us. We are reassessing the importance of 'things' and will focus on more of what the heart tells us.
It's been a rough time. But 🌈 aren't far away.
I love you endlessly Ethan. It will be my life's greatest blessing to grow old with you. I'm so proud of you.
Your strength through your darkness is a testament to the love you have for me and this amazing family that we made together.
I'm right beside you, now and always. X♡
