With countless tournaments played and hosted, a visit from the Australian mens touch team, and individual successes, not much better could have come out of this year for our touch footy goers.
The Mudgee Guardian decided to ask Ben Harris, Mudgee Touch publicity officer, the tough questions and get him to pinpoint some highlight moments.
“We’ve had quite a few,” Harris started off with.
“Probably our most highlighted moment would be our tournaments.
“We’ve had several big tournaments, three school tournaments and hornets junior tournaments.”
Mudgee also hosted the NSW CHS back in May followed by the NSW PSSA tournament in July, and the Western CHS tournament in April.
But, biggest of all, the Don Green Western Junior Championships in November which saw 50 teams from all over participate - the biggest number to date.
It was a great success from all facets.

Unarguably one of the most valuable visits of the year was the Australians mens touch team hosting their training camps.
“It was great to have them here because they get to teach some of the junior kids and also get to teach some of the Mudgee coaches,” Harris said.
“It’s always just a great vibe around the whole structure of the whole thing seeing top quality touch players come to our town and showcase their skills and the sport of touch football.”
2019 will kick off with a trip to Nelson Bay early February for the Peter Wilson Junior Championships, with grand final day set for March 10, 2019.
We’re pretty stoked with how the season has gone and we are hoping that that progresses next year and the future years to come.
- Ben Harris
