A 55-year-old woman was fined $660 and disqualified for four months for mid-range drink driving, when she appeared in Mudgee Local Court last Wednesday.

Kellie Anne Douglas of Lawson Street, Mudgee, was stopped for a random breath test at about 3.04pm on the afternoon of Thursday, October 11, 2018, in Gladstone Street.
She admitted to consuming alcohol and subsequently tested positive to the roadside breath test, before being taken to Mudgee Police Station where a breath analysis of 0.115 was recorded.
Douglas’s solicitor, Peter Orr, told the court “I note that the police facts say that she had two glasses of wine, but they were big glasses”.
Magistrate David Day said that when it comes to experienced drivers he must consider whether to record a criminal conviction or not for the offence before court, depending on the defendant’s record.
And in Douglas’s case, “two high-range offences in the last 20 years [in 2001 and 2007] is enough to cause her problems”.
“It’s much easier [to make that decision] when people have history of near-death experiences,” His Honour said.
