The husband and wife, who wish to remain anonymous, won the guaranteed first Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1182, drawn Thursday, December 20, 2018.
The husband and wife purchased their winning entry of one random number at Gulgong Newsagency.
The husband and wife revealed the winning entry had been tucked away in their wallet for weeks before they were able to check their tickets.
The New South Wales residents revealed they had been dreaming of travelling to New York and their Lucky Lotteries windfall would give them the freedom to book a once in a lifetime holiday.
“We can’t believe it!, We’re so happy, we’re crying,” the couple said.
“It’s unbelievable!”
The lucky couple, like many people, have been playing the lottery for years without luck which may have been the reason behind the time it took to check their ticket and claim the prize.
“My husband has been playing lotteries for more than 30 years,” the wife said.
“My husband plays religiously every week and when he went into the newsagency to check the tickets, the lady told us we’d won a big prize.
“It took us a while to get the ticket checked, so we didn’t waste time when we found out we were winners, we raced home to give the lotto people a call.
“It’s all just a big blur really; we can’t believe it.”
The winning couple said the win was bigger than anything they’d experienced before.
“This certainly surpasses winning a chook raffle,” the couple said.

“But we now know about it and we already know how we will use the prize,” they said.
“We will do a few things with the money that is for sure.
“We will pay a few bills off, that’s the first thing we’ll do.”
However, The couple will then look to be a bit more extravagant once those bills are paid.
“We’ve always wanted to go to New York,” the couple said.
“That will be exciting, so we might do that once we’ve sorted the bills out we want to pay.
“We’re very, very lucky.
This is just the best thing that has happened to us and we feel pretty good about it.”
