In hot and humid conditions Mudgee won the toss and elected to bat first with Andrew Best making 100, Donald Hearn 44, Michael Dowell 31, Brian O’Reilly not out 25.
In reply, Gulgong all out for 135. Top scoring for Gulgong was Jason Warner with 34, while Tim Suttor finished with 5/26 for Mudgee.
Mudgee District Cricket secretary Terry Ford says Andrew Best and Tim Suttor had some highlight performances.
“Besty really set the tone. He was the difference with the scoring, and he did it very quickly,” he said.
“Suttor taking a fifer was also a big thing.”
The Cup has been played for approximately 16 years, and has only recently been renamed as the Cameron Cox Cup.
