A memorial service will be held for Robert (Bob) Murphy, former Captain and life member of the Bogee Rural Fire Brigade, at the Bogee RFS shed Noola Road, Bogee on Sunday, February 24. We ask members and friends wishing to attend the service to assemble at 11am for an 11.30am service. This will be followed by a light lunch. Hugh Malone, President.

Kandos High Staffing News
2018 saw some staff movements, including our Principal James Armitage moving
on to new journeys. We welcome to the school some new faces; Dyanna Thommeny as our Acting Principal, Jo Radcliffe is the
Visual Arts teacher, Deb Johnston our Head Teacher-Teaching and Learning and
Michael Vaughan in Technology and Applied Studies. I thank Ms Carol Heilman for leading the team into the New Year and our dedicated staff who have commenced the year ready for a great 2019.
The Show
With a great atmosphere, in a historical location, the Sofala Show is a must, to a lot of people. All the fun of a rural event.

Rylstone Senior Citizen Award
The Mid-Western Regional Council Seniors Week Citizens of the Year Awards for 2019 went to Carol Hayward. More than 50 people attended the luncheon function at the Globe Hotel’s “The Shed” restaurant. The event, last Thursday recognised Carol Hayward’s contribution to the community. Volunteering for the Rylstone Tennis Club, Rylstone Golf Club, Red Cross, Rylstone Combined Superannuates and other organisations, Carol has selflessly given her time. The Council was represented by Councillors, Esme Martens and Percy Thompson at the special luncheon.
Kandos Senior Citizen Award
The Mid-Western Regional Council, Kandos Seniors Week Citizens of the Year Awards for 2019 went to the Kandos Rylstone Community Radio. “For recognition of your achievements in supporting the Community”. The award was accepted by KRR-FM President, Brent Barlow.
Special Visit
Last Saturday the Rylstone and District Historical Society had an interesting visitor, Ian Kendal. Ian an historian, gave a talk about ancestry and family history research. This happened in the dining room of the historical building, ‘The Bridge View Inn’. The well attended meeting appreciated Ian’s information and methods to use while undertaking historical research
Kandos Markets
The first markets in 2019 were held in glorious sunshine at the St Laurence Anglican Church, Angus Avenue, Kandos. It was a slow day according to some stallholders. New to the Kandos Markets, Susan Debanon, enjoyed herself, selling imported purses and handbags. Susan also has pillow covers and pre-loved clothes. Next market will be 16th March. Rylstone Kandos Show – bigger and better than ever!
With only days to go there is plenty of activity preparing for the Rylstone Kandos Show.
The pavilion will be open on Friday night between 6 and 8pm with all the usual produce, arts and crafts on display and this year will be accompanied by a bar and BBQ.
Then on Saturday the livestock, horses, dogs, utes, woodchopping, sheep counting, birds and poultry, junior livestock judging, junior showgirl will all be run and won before non-stop entertainment from about 4.30 headlining the hilarious Crack Up Sisters, amazing Dancing Horses, a Horse Ball match and the huge Fireworks display incorporating the all new monster Fireball.
There will be plenty of interesting trade and commercial stands, a very cute animal nursery lots of food outlets and of course the favourite meeting place, the bar.
