Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews from Gulgong were called to a property on the corner of Caledonian and Lynne streets at 11.55am on Tuesday following reports of a fire.
Duty Commander acting inspector Russell Johnson said FRNSW and NSW Rural Fire Service crews responded to the scene.
“Fire and Rescue NSW received multiple triple-o calls to a grass fire, but on arrival discovered a fire involving tyres and also some old machinery in a yard,” he said.
“It appears to have been impacting a small shed which contained aerosols and chemicals.
“The tyres and machinery were extinguished with hoses and foam.”
FRNSW firefighters from Gulgong said crews remained on scene for some time after the initial call out.
“Crews are currently monitoring hot spots with our thermal imaging camera and will be in attendance for some time,” they said in a statement.
“Please avoid the area if at all possible while firefighting operations are completed.”
The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
