The area has been transformed thanks to the addition of a new reception area and café. The café has been named in recognition of Kanandah's longtime logo, the 'Wattle Cafe', and was built by local tradespeople. Its success is dependant on the patronage generated among residents, their families and staff. Kanandah says they're appreciative of the financial support provided by Moolarben Coal as part of their Community Development Fund and Kanandah’s Administrator, Sue Pearce says she is very impressed with how the café has turned out. “Kanandah’s Wattle Café has been built to benefit our residents and families, providing a social setting that allows for loved ones to be taken on an outing that may otherwise be difficult or impossible,” Sue said. The café will operate from 10am to 3pm 7 days per week. The menu offers daily specials for lunch, morning and afternoon tea.
