Principal of the High School Ms Macleod motivated the SRC with a quote from Bill Gates. “As we look ahead into the 21st Century, leaders will be those who empower others”. This will be a challenge for all SRC students throughout 2019 as they are expected to be both role models and the voice of the student body, as well as make the school and community stronger, proactive and positive.
Ms Macleod welcomed all of the SRC students to the council and said the staff look forward to supporting them throughout the year.

GULGONG RED CROSS 105 YEARS IN GULGONG
Gulgong Red Cross have been operating non-stop for over 105 years. This is really something for a small country town like Gulgong.
The longevity of the Association is due to the hard working volunteers who have worked so hard raising money for Red Cross for all those years.
A street stall was held recently and the volunteers took $900 in one morning. This shows the respect the community has for this great cause.
RED HILL ENVIRONMENTAL AND EDUCATION CENTRE
The new Principal of the Red Hill Environmental and Education Centre Rebecca Neilsen along with the Deputy Principal Sue Fuller recently invited members of the community to a meeting to discuss the centres involvement in the community.
The members of the community who attended the meeting outlined the importance of the EEC to the Gulgong community and welcomed more involvement from them.
The name of the group was decided upon “The Gulgong Community Group” and will meet once a month.
MID-WESTERN REGIONAL COUNCIL LOOKING AFTER OUR KIDS
As you drive past Apex Park next to the Gulgong Swimming Pool you will see excavation and a lot of activity there.
This area is to become the Gulgong Activity Park which the council is building at a cost of around $800,000.00. The park will have a mining theme which will fit in with Gulgong’s mining heritage.
Also on the other side of the pool is the newly opened Skate Park which already is very popular with our young daredevils.
Along with the pool these two activity centres will not only be great for our kid’s fitness it is also fun.
