Over 150 riders from as far afield as Sydney and Cobar descended on Dubbo at the weekend for the opening round of motocross racing at Dubbo Dirt Bike Club.

The day belonged to local rider Tom Geale, who left everyone in his dust on his way to winning the senior opens, A grade all powers and A grade senior lites, in an impressive clean sweep of the top senior classes.
In the senior opens class Geale held off Narromine’s Luke Harding to take the win, with Mudgee rider Jason Redding finishing on the third step of the podium.
Geale and Harding continued their battle in the A grade all powers, with Geale coming out on top again, and Cobar’s Greg Prisk finishing in third position.
In the A grade senior lites class Geale held off local riders Trent Wheatley and Ryda Deveson who finished in second and third respectively.
In other results, Mudgee’s Jason Redding backed up his podium in the in the senior opens with a win in the over 35’s class. He was followed up by Garry Duddy in second and Naman Morse in third place.
In the women’s opens class Bec Hartin of Orange took the win ahead of Michelle Miller in second place, with Cobar’s Jayde George collecting the trophy for third.
The junior girls were represented by Emma Geale, Chloe Richards, Kolbie Berry, Kaitlyn Hall, Lou Lou Selliger, Betty Dray and Kiara Chatfield.
In the B grade all powers Arum Berry took the win ahead of Juke Kelly in second and Guy Merrick in third position.
The B grade senior lites class was taken out by Connor Albert, with Reef Burey in second and Nick Jackson of Coonamble taking home the third place trophy.
Despite some close racing in the junior lites class, Justin Harrow of Geurie finished with the win, followed by Brock Deveson in second and Campbell Williams of Orange in third place.
Williams moved to the top step on the podium with the win in the under 16s 85cc class, with Jonty Hatton taking out second and Tom O’Dwyer finishing in third place.
In the Under 12s 85cc class, Jack Deveson led the field all day to finish in first place, followed by Ty Henderson in second, with Ryan Eade of Geurie taking the final spot on the podium.
Deveson, Henderson and Eade repeated their results in the Under 12s 65cc class.
Jake Doyle took out first place in the Under 10s 65cc class, with Clay McDonald of Cobar finishing in second and Hudson Miller in third position.
The 50cc High Powers was taken out by Tyler Eade of Geurie, with Cobar’s George McDonald in second and Will Cale of Narromine rounding out the placings.
The 50cc nippers riders included Dusty McDonald, Elijah Newton, Balin Hartas, Cruze Chatfield, Vassic Hawcraft, Rusty Hatton, Rowley Lister, Tom Stiff, Amos Morse, Stella Harding, Ollie Cale, Oliver Staggs, Hudson Job, Tucker Job, Tommy George, Billy Martin, Blade Regan, Lachie Sweeny and Hurley Miller.
The Harrow’s Transport Encouragement Award was won by Noah Woldhuis of Geurie.
Club President Ben Woldhuis said he was happy with the turn out for the opening round of racing.
“It’s great to have so many riders from other clubs all over the state turn up for the first round, and really good to see plenty of new faces out here racing as well,” he said.
The next round of racing will be held at Morris Park Raceway on Sunday 7 April.
