Two of Mudgee trainer, Cameron Crockett's entries into the Newhaven Park Country Championships have been withdrawn from the race following untimely health conditions. Crockett advised Racing NSW stewards that his four year old bay mare, Soul Secrets who placed first in the CDRA Country Championships Qualifier, has been struck with hind lameness. After the stewards receiving a veterinary certificate from Randwick Equine Centre declaring the mare to be unsuitable to race, and following a consultation with Racing NSW Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Toby Koenig Soul Secrets has been with drawn from the final. Barbass who ran the first emergency run in CDRA Qualifier, will undergo surgery to treat the condition and has also been declared by Dr Toby Koenig to be unsuitable to race and therefore been withdrawn. However, all hope is not lost just yet as Crockett's five year old gelding Ori On Fire has gained a start in the Country Championships final. In with a shot, this now means Ori On Fire will not be eligible to race in the Country Championships Wild Card that is to be held at Muswellbrook on March 24.
