The Mudgee Guardian reached out to Mid-Western Regional Council back in 2019 to get some more info on this issue and when you can and cannot be fined for a lousy park, their reply to each of our questions is below.
'Council's Law Enforcement Officers enforce parking infringements under the Road Rules 2014 and Local Government Act 1993,' their reply said.

Motorists can be fined for parking outside the lines, under the Act the fine is known as 'Not park wholly within parking bay' or 'Use more parking bays than necessary'.

What other kinds of parking infringements warrant a fine by a council ranger?
Council's Law Enforcement Officers can enforce any parking infringements under the Road Rules 2014 and Local Government Act 1993.
However, officers have the power to use discretion when issuing fines based on the circumstances of each situation.
Some of the most common fines Council's Law Enforcement Officers issue are;
- Exceeding sign posted time limit
- Non permit holders parking in disabled zones
- Parking in no stopping or no parking zones
- Parking in loading zones
