Police seeking cheeky thieves
Police are seeking a man and a woman who broke into the Winning Post Motel between midnight and 5.30 on Wednesday morning.
the audatious [sic] pair broke into the office of the motel where they took keys to some vacant rooms and a small amount of cash.
Police said they let themselves into some of the rooms, drank an amount of alcohol and made themselves comfortable.
Police have good descriptions of the suspects provided by other motel guests.
They are looking for a man in his thirties, about six feet tall with short brown hair. He has a slightly greying moustache, is of slim build with brown eyes and olive skin.
He was wearing a red t-shirt and white shorts.
He was driving a late model maroon coloured Holden Commodore.
His supposed accomplice is described as a medium build five feet four inch tall woman with short curly hair streaked blond. She has a fair, freckled complexion and was wearing a long white T-shirt with a red and yellow animal on the front.
Phone smashed
A 51-year-old Gulgong man will appear in Mudgee Court on February 21 [1989] on a charge of wilful damage to Commonwealth property at Cassilis on Wednesday afternoon.
The man was seen by eye witnesses smashing the handset in the street public phone booth shortly after being dropped off by a truck in the main street of the village.
Beer stolen
Mudgee Greyhound Racing Club suffered its second robbery in the last six weeks when thieves broke into the bar at the Mudgee Sportsground over the Christmas period.
Goods worth $600 wholesale (mostly beer) was stolen.
Prior to Christmas, beer worth $300 wholesale was removed from the coolroom at the racecourse.
Break & Enter
Mudgee and District Greyhound Club was broken into for the fourth time on Monday.
Police reported that six cartons of beer were taken.
The Greyhound Club is not the only one concerned with break and entries, Gulgong Police are seeking public assistance regarding thefts from a number of businesses in that town.
Fire cause unknown
The cause of a fire which destroyed a shed and caravans on Ridge Road, Cooks Gap on Monday, January 9 is not known.
Dubbo scientific police who investigated the fire said that nothing was found which could be directly attributed to starting the fire.
Stolen Car
A 76 model Valiant sedan was stolen from Kandos on Friday night.
The car was found crashed into a tree behind the Rylstone Hospital the next day by Kandos police.
Collision on fairway
A women [sic] driver was treated for minor injuries at Mudgee Hospital on Saturday night after the car she was driving had collided with two trees on the fifth fairway on the Mudgee Golf Course.
Moments before, the vehicle had been moving south along Robertson Street. However , near to the Trefusis Avenue intersection, the driver lost control of the car which left the road, went down a steep embankment, through a fence onto the Golf Course, collided with a large pine tree, colliding with another large tree, the time a box tree before finally coming to a stop.
Tyre tracks on the grass marked the path of the vehicle which had to be towed away.
A passenger in the vehicle was unhurt.
