The Ulan, Moolarben and Wilpinjong Miners Charity Bowls Day first was developed by a group of miners in the region who shared a common passion for lawn bowls and socialising.
Eventually the day grew into an annual event that is focused on raising money for something or someone in the community.
Last year the day raised enough funds to purchase a defibrillator for the Gulgong Bowling and Sporting Club.
However for 2019, the total funds raised were initially going to be donated to the Prostate Cancer Support and Research, but following news of Gulgong local Mia Bennett's medical condition, President of Gulgong Men's Bowling Club Colin Ferguson felt it appropriate to donate to the Bennett family.
"We were very touched by the community support for Mia as well as a few of us knowing Mia's family personally, so we decided we will give the donations to the Bennett family," Ferguson said.
The event will be held at Gulgong Bowling Club on April 16 from 9am.
Prices are $20 per head which includes lunch, bowls and a lucky door prize.
