The local couple - who were once co-named as the region's 'Senior Citizen of the Year' - received correspondence [pictured] from the Queen, Prime Minister, Governor General, and Federal MP, acknowledging the milestone.
They wed at St Philip's "Church Hill", and bought their first home in West Epping cost £5,000.
The decades together included two sons, both achieving their Masters, and working in security at the Sydney Airport.
They retired and moved to Saxby Downs - between Mudgee and Gulgong - before eventually moving into town in 2004.
And ingratiated with the local community through their volunteer work with a number of organisations, including with Dorothy founding the local branch of the Arthritis Society and in particular Mudgee U3A.
Both are Life Members of the latter, with Colin a former president and Dorothy a former vice-president.
This year they started presenting a jazz course again and celebrated their anniversary with fellow members on Thursday. With the occasion doubling as a 50th anniversary for John and Jill Novak, which is coming in May.
Colin said "the secret to our success is planning and organisation and a sense of humour".
With Dorothy adding, "we've had an unusual but wonderful life together".
